About Time - We're all traveling through time together, every day of our lives
On Tim's 21st birthday, his father tells him that he has the power of time traveling. He did not believe it at first, but he does what his father told and successfully travels back to have his first kiss. He is quite overwhelmed by his new superpower because he can do a lot with traveling time, but he just wants to save his love life.
Tim's sister, Kit Kat, invites a friend of hers, Charlotte, to stay in the house at summer. Charlotte is a lovely blonde girl that Tim cannot help falling in love with her since the very first day. He confesses his love the day before she is going to leave, but she tells him it is too late. Therefore, he travels back the first day she came to his house and tells her he loves him. Ironically, she tells him it is too early and asks him to save it until the last day. Tim realizes time traveling seems to be an almighty way to solve all problem, but it still cannot make someone fall in love with you.
Hi. Sit down. I know you've probably suspected this, but over the last month I've fallen completely in love with you. Now obviously this was gonna happen because you're a goddess with that face and that hair, but even if you didn't have a nice face, and even if you had absolutely no hair because of some bizarre medical reason, I'd still adore you, and I... I just wondered whether, by any chance, you might share my feelings.
Wow. I tell you what. Why don't we see how the summer goes and then you ask me again on my last night?
Your last night?
Yes. Try me on the last night. See what happens then, shall we?
Big lesson number one, all the time travel in the world can't make someone love you.
Tim later moves to London to pursue his career as a lawyer. He is still thinking of getting himself a girlfriend, but he has no luck. He meets a wonderful girl in a restaurant while doing blind dining. It all goes so well. However, he loses her phone number when he traveled back to save his friend's show. He only knows her name is Mary and they both love Kate Moss very much. He did find her in an exhibition of Kate Moss, but she has a boyfriend already. To get her back, Tim goes back a bit to ask her out before she met her new boyfriend. Everything goes well and they have a fantastic night together, because Tim has traveled back to make sure he is giving his best. Tim and Mary are like meant to be together. Their relationship develops so fast that he moves into her house soon. Tim runs into Charlotte and he is quite uptight, so he travels back to avoid any embarrassment. This time, Charlotte tries to hit on her, but he knows that he turns her down right away. He knows how much he loves Mary, so he proposes to her the same day. He brings her back to meet his parents and starts to prepare for their wedding. Their wedding does not end up with what they had expected, but Mary is still happy for what she had.
Do you wish we'd picked another less wet day?
No. Not for the world.
And so it begins. Lots and lots of types of days.
Kit Kat is involved in a car accident because she and Jimmy have been having argument all the time. Tim tries to travel back in time with her to fix her problem but he messes up.
I can't go back past the birth again, can I?
No. I should have mentioned that. You're okay till it comes out but the exact sperm at the exact moment got you this particular baby, so if you do anything the tiniest bit different, you'll have a different child.
So, every day until yesterday is as it will always be? Lost?
Just like for everyone else.
Okay. interesting.
Tim knows that the her sister's problem cannot be solved by going back in time, so he and Mary help her deal with her problem after the car crash.
Tim's dad has a terminal cancer, but he cannot fix it by traveling in time, because it would mess everything up. He knows he is going to die soon, so he shares his secret formula of happiness with Tim.
But then came part two of Dad's plan. He told me to live every day again almost exactly the same. The first time with all the tensions and worries that stop us noticing how sweet the world can be, but the second time noticing.
Though Tim's dad is not here anymore, Tim can still meet him and play with him once in a while by using his time-traveling superpower. However, Mary wants another child with Tim, which he'd love to, but that means he is not going to be able to travel back to the time before the birth of their baby. In other words, he has say goodbye to his dad for the very last time.
Is there anything at all I can do? Is there anything you want to do? I don't know. There is this one thing. A quick little walk. Totally against the rules, of course, but if we don't change a thing, if we're very careful, it shouldn't do any harm. It would be nice.
Time traveling is probably one of the most coveted superpower, but it is definitely not a panacea for all problems. Trying to rephrase your words or act in another way would not make much difference at all. If you keep traveling back in time to make sure everything is perfect, it would be quite tiring, because making mistakes is just unavoidable. It is hard to have a flawless life. One reason that makes life so beautiful is that it is flawed and not perfect at all. A normal life should be full of regrets, surprises or challenges. If you want a perfect life that goes exactly the way you want, you probably have to keep going back in time to fix the problems. However, the problem is that you are not living your life if you keep going back in time. It is obvious that no one wants to loses anything or has any sad moments throughout the whole life. But that's life. Life is full of ups and downs, and people comes and goes. It is hard to accept any losses, but no one can stop that. All you can do is to enjoy every moment you have, so that you would not have any huge regrets when you look back later.
