Eilis is an Irish girl and she has been living Ireland for her entire life. One day, she gets a chance to move to Brooklyn, but she has to leave her family behind. When she first moves to Brooklyn, it is a whole new environment for her. She can hardly adapt to it, because she feels homesick all the time and she misses her family in Ireland. Her life here has changed radically since she has met Jim. Jim is the one that makes her feel like she belongs to this new country.
