Descendants 2 - No matter where you go, We can meet in the space between

Mal is going to become a Lady of the Court in Cotillion, but she always has the thought that she does not fit in Auradon. Since she is the girlfriend of King Ben, she has to pretend to be perfect to live up other's expectation. She knows she is not perfect at all, so she has been using magic to make everything seems perfect. After discovering that Mal had been using spells, he is mad at her, so she runs away. She runs back to Isle of the Lost, because she feels like she belongs to there. To get Mal back, Ben goes there with Evie, Carlos and Jay. He has found Mal, but he fails to convince her to go back to Auradon. They do not keep an eye on Ben, so he gets captured by Uma's gang. To save Ben, Mal needs to give what Uma's want, the magical wand. They cannot imagine what the world will become if Uma gets the magical wand, so they decide to give a fake one to her instead. Lonnie overhears their plan while Carlos and Jay are trying to make a wand using 3D printer, so she joins the fight with them. Uma gets tricked by them believing that is the real wand, so she releases Ben. When she realizes that the one she is holding is a forged one, she asks her gang to fight back. After a fierce fight, Mal and her friends manage to escape from the scene, but she leaves her spell book by accident. After what happened in the Isle of the Lost, Mal believes that she is still in love with Ben and the fact that Ben truly loves her. Ben got spelled by Uma, but the spell is broken when Mal kisses her, because true love works every time.

Auradon is indeed a land of opportunity, where you can be whoever you want there. It does not matter what your past is, you can live your own life without hiding your true identity. You don't have to ashamed of your past, because everyone has our own past. Whether you like it or not, it is your roots and that has shaped you who you are today. Showing your true colors is definitely easier than pretending someone who you are not. If someone does not like the real you, s/he is not the one for you. In other words, if you have to pretend someone else to impress your crush, your crush might not be suitable for you, unless your crush is willing to meet you halfway.

Not pretending someone else does not mean that you cannot change. You don't have to be bounded by the stereotype. The past is the past, what it matters is who are now. It is perfectly fine to change who you are in this ever-changing world as long as you can stay true to who you are. If you have a chance to change, go grab it because it might slip away sooner or later.
