Descendants 3 - Put our history behind us and celebrate our differences
As one of the first batch of villain kids being taken to Auradon, Mal and her friends believe they have the responsibility of giving other villain kids a second chance to live in a better place. However, something happens when they are bring the second batch of villain kids back to Auradon. Hades is trying to escape using his magical power, but Mal manages to prevent him from leaving. She now realizes how dangerous it is to bring other villain kids back to Auradon. Mal had accepted Ben's proposal, so she is going to the queen one day. Because of this, she now has the responsibility to protect her citizens in Auradon, and opening the barrier again might be a threat to the kingdom. To guarantee no evil guys can hurt the citizens in Auradon, she suggests closing the barrier for good.
Audrey is so jealous of Mal being the queen. If Mal did not appear, Audrey would have become the queen. She cannot accept the fact that she is not going to be the queen, so she is getting back at Mal by getting Mal's mother's scepter. With the scepter, she is now the evilest woman in the world, and she has got the power to do all the evil things. Audrey first turns Mal into an old woman, Ben into a beast and make everyone else falls into sleep. To save the kingdom, Mal knows the only way to break the spell is to have Hades' ember, which means she has to go back to the Isle. She goes back to the Isle with her friends, and she gets it eventually because Hades is indeed her father. While she is heading back to Auradon, the ember is taken by Uma. Uma is unwilling to give it back first, but she makes a deal with Mal that the ember will be returned only if all the villain kids are released, and it is agreed by Mal. Mal and Uma are supposed to be in the same team against Audrey, but they are not getting along well as usual. They realize they cannot win the battle unless they fight together. They are all in this together, so they agree to celebrate the difference for the sake of saving Auradon.
Being evil is not inherently bad, sometimes it is good to be bad. Surrounded by good people, you will be good eventually. The behaviors of bad people might make you panicked, but it does not mean you have to shut them down. Everyone should have be given a second chance to be a better person. As a matter of fact, calling them the villain kids does not mean that they are evil in blood, it is just because their parents are evil. It is not fair to treat them as if they are going to be evil like their parents. They should not blame Mal for making such decision, because she was just overwhelmed when being crowned as a queen. She still remembers who she is and where she is from as she is always the kid in the Isle of the Lost.
