Ever After - I know that a life without love... is no life at all

Once upon a time, there's a little girl called Danielle lives happily with her father until he marries another woman, Baroness. She brings her daughters to live with the same house with them. Danielle's father sets out to go somewhere else, but he dies of heart attack before he returns. Ever since then, Danielle lives with her new stepmother and stepsister, but she is no different than other servants in the house.

One day, while Danielle is working, she sees someone stealing her father's horse, so she throws pebbles at him. It turns out he is the prince, and he gives her few coins just to keep his presence a secret. With the extra money, Danielle wants to buy back the servant that Baroness once sold. She dresses as a noblewoman and try to bring the servant home with the coins she has. The keeper is unwilling to let her buy back the servant, so he has a quarrel with Danielle. The scene is witnessed by the prince, and he is impressed by Danielle's argument, so he asks the keeper to release the servant immediately. The prince wants to know her name, but she gives her mother's name to him and leave with the servant right away. Since then, the prince has run into her several times before taking her out to the monastery. Danielle loves reading, so the place is perfect for her. When they are about to return home, the gypsies get in the way. The prince can't fight with that many gypsies, but Danielle is smart enough to trick them in releasing them. That night, they have fun with the gypsies, and the prince kisses her the first time.

When Danielle returns home the next morning, her stepmother is mad at her for disappearing the whole night. To punish her, Baroness takes away the dress and shoes her mother left to her. Danielle refuses, so her stepsister further threaten her to burn the book her father left to him. Danielle gives, but her stepsister still put the book on fire. She even gets whipped for her misbehavior. What disappoints her the most is that her stepmother never loves her.

The prince didn't want to have arranged marriage with another girl, so the King asked him to announce who he is going to marry at a ball. Baroness finds out Danielle has been secretly dating with the prince, so she grounds Danielle and doesn't allow her to the ball. Later, she also tells the queen that Danielle has engaged with another prince. With the help of Leonardo da Vinci, Danielle is able to leave the house and gets dressed nice to go to the ball. Everyone at the ball is surprised when she enters the room. Baroness wants her daughter to be the princess instead, so she calls Danielle out and reveals she is just a servant at the house. The prince is mad at her for lying him the whole time, so he rejects her.

Baroness later sells Danielle to a businessman. The prince goes for the arranged marriage, but the princesses has another lover, so they are not married. Reminded by Leonardo da Vinci, the prince realizes how much he loves Danielle, so he set out to rescue her from the businessman. Before the prince arrives, Danielle already finds her way out of the house. They reunite outside of the house and rekindle their relationship. They marry and live happily ever after. On the other hand, Baroness and her daughter get punished to work as servants.
