Love, Victor S02E01 - I didn't decide it. I just... am it

The last season ended with Victor finally opened up to his family about his sexual orientation. It doesn't go well as expected, because Victor's parents are quite conservative. Victor's dad tends to joke around his relationship with Benji to ease the tension, while Victor's mum still avoid to talk about it. Over the summer, everything has changed. Victor's parents are on a break now, so they live separately. His dad is now living alone, but he misses spending time with his family. He is living in depression, so he doubts whether he made the right decision of separating from his wife. When all is said and done, Victor still calls it the best summer ever, because his relationship with his new boyfriend, Benji, is going well They have been working together in the coffeehouse and getting along well the whole summer. Felix and Lake had become an official couple since the Spring Fling. On the outside, Felix seems to have a lot of fun in the summer as well, but indeed he is struggling with the financial issue. Mia got her heart broken when she found out Victor had been lying to her the whole time. Her dad also got engaged with another woman and they are going to have a baby. All these happened all of a sudden and it's just too much for her to handle, so she went away and become a camp counsellor for the whole summer. She bumps into Andrew when she returns home. Andrew has always been so nice to her, so she thought they could be a thing this time. Unfortunately, Andrew has found a new girlfriend, which means Mia doesn't stand a chance. She suddenly feels lonely, because it seems everyone around her has a partner now. She is the only one left out.

Victor and Benji plan to announce their relationship publicly on the very first day of school. Victor has mixed feeling about it. He is both excited and terrified at the same time. He wants everyone else knows he is dating Benji, but he doesn't what others might think about him when they hear it. He fears that others might react the way his parents did when they know he is gay. Life sucks when you cannot share the joy with your loved one. Being with someone is probably one of happiest things in life, but they aren't happy about it because the relationship is not up for their expectations. One of the reasons why Victor transfers to Creekwood High School was that he got to be whoever he wanted to be and had a chance of redefining his life. Is Creekwood High as receptive as Victor thought?
