Love, Victor S02E02 - I'm sorry for not being as brave as you are

Victor is excited telling every kid in the school that he and Benji are official now. Before going to school, Victor's mum warns him to be careful of what he is going to say as they like making fun of other kids that are different. Her words get around in Victor's head, so he is now afraid of coming out publicly. When asked about why he broke up with Mia, he could clear things up by coming out, but he did not. Benji is somehow disappointed, but he doesn't want to force him to do anything. When the kids know that Mia and Victor broke up, they start to spread rumors that Mia cheated on him. Victor can't tolerate Mia being defamed, so he shoves one of the guy gossiping about Mia is a cheater as a payback. His parents are not all mad about his behavior, but his mum indeed glads that Victor still care about his ex girlfriend. This makes him more mad at her, because she is the very reason why he didn't have the courage of speaking up. Victor wants to hear his mum saying she supports her for whoever he is, but she still cannot say it out loud. Things didn't go smooth on the first day of school. Victor wants to talk with Mia about what happened, but she ignores her the whole time. Mia meets a college kid at a party, so she decides to hang out with him and his friends. She feels a little bit better after sharing what she has been dealing with lately with the college kids, and she starts to catch a feeling for the guy she just met. Mia is not interested in the high school drama, because she is interested in something else. Pilar overhears Felix's conversation with landlord, and she knows he is having trouble with paying the rent. Pilar doesn't want him to move out as he has been a good neighbor for his family. Therefore, she lends her hard-earned money to him so he can have enough money to cover the rent. Indeed, she has been saving up all the money so that she can go to a concert with her friends.

Though Benji really wants to hold hands with Victor at school, he knows that Victor is not ready, and he totally understands. It's so unfair to Benji to hold back his feelings, so Victor thinks that he has the responsibility to tell the truth and clear up all the rumors.

You're the only one that's being cruel. The only reason why you don't want me telling anyone that I'm gay is because you don't want me to be gay.

Victor. I don't think I could give up on you, even if I wanted to. We'll tell the school when you're ready, okay? and if I wanna hold your hand, or do something boyfriendy, then I'll just... I'll just do this.

Yeah. I, I guess, but still, you don't deserve this,
and if there's anything I can do..
Okay. Victor. Victor. You don't owe me anything. You're not my boyfriend anymore.
I know I'm not your boyfriend. But we're not nothing to each other. Are we?

Dear Simon, it wasn't as smooth as I planned, but Benji and I are officially out at Creekwood. To be honest, I don't know how people are gonna react, and I don't care. You taught me everything I know about being brave. And, and who knows Maybe one day I can inspire someone to be themselves, the same way you inspired me.
