Love, Victor S02E03 - You should be around people who want you to be you

After coming out, Victor thought that all his problems would be gone overnight, but he has underestimated the consequences of coming out. Some kids at his school have been sharing their life with Victor, because he is their idol now. Most people in Creekwood are accepting but not every one of them. The coach of the basketball team tells Victor that some kids in team don't want him to be in the same changing room with them. Victor finds it ridiculous and off-putting because they have been changing together for a year now. Just because Victor has come out, some team players are now uncomfortable to change next to him? Victor wants Andrew to tell him which team player complain about him. He doesn't reveal who, but he suggests Victor that he should dominate in the upcoming practice so that other kids realize he is just the same with the others. He does perform well in the practice, but some kids still talk behind his back in the changing room.

Victor's dad, Armando doesn't really know how to support him when he came out. Armando still wants to maintain a good father-son relationship with Victor, so he goes to the family support group hoping to learn how to communicate with his son better. Armando meets Simon's dad in the meeting, and he advises Armando that he should start a conversation with something they love. Armando knows Victor loves sports, so he buys his son a pair of cool shoes. Victor doesn't accept the gift and admits that he has quitted the team.

Felix needs money to pay off the bills and repay Pilar, so he has been helping his classmates to cheat to earn money. His girlfriend, Lake wants to spend more time with him and go to party together, but it seems he is not interested at all except making more money. Felix knows he can't hide the secret anymore, so he tells her everything about his mother and the financial situation of his family. Lake understands and helps him to do the homework as they are 'we' now. Mia is madly in love with a college guy. He invites her to a party but he doesn't show up. Mia is disappointed so she got herself drunk. Coincidentally, Benji's ex spots her and texts Benji about that. Victor locates her and picks her up in the party. Victor tells Mia that he would love to be friends with her again, because she wants to him to be true to himself.

Even in an open-minded society, there must be someone who is not receptive to LGBT community. It is hard to force everyone to be less conservative and accept you. Having said you, you still gotta be you. You shouldn't change who you are just because you don't fit in the group. You can't make everyone likes you, but you can choose to be around people who like you.
