Love, Victor S02E10 - I don't want to be friends, either
Victor and Benji are still on a break after they had a fight. Victor doesn't want to bail on Mia's dad's wedding, so he has to find someone to replace Benji. Rahim loves fancy stuff, so he is the perfect candidate for accompanying Victor in the wedding. They are having fun in the wedding as Rahim is a playful guy. On the other hand, Isabel cannot bear to see his son to be upset at home, so she decides to correct her mistakes by meeting with Benji. Isabel has been so mean to Benji, because she doesn't want Victor to be gay. However, Isabel now accepts Victor for who he is, so she talks Benji into getting back with Victor together. Benji finally comes to the wedding, hoping to get back with Victor, but he catches Victor and Rahim slow-dancing. Benji suspects there is something between Victor and Rahim, but Victor denies it and he finds Benji's accuse unbelievable. Later, Rahim professes his love to Victor, saying that he has never felt this way for anyone else. Rahim doesn't want to force Victor to give him answer right now, so he walks away and asks Victor to find him if he shares the same feeling.
All relationships have problems, whether you're sixteen or forty... Thirty-nine. What matters is how hard you're willing to work at it. How much of yourself you're willing to put into it. And I've never seen Victor put more of himself into anything. He even stood up to me. For the first time in his life. And we all know that Victor is the world's biggest mama's boy. [Laughs] But he put our whole relationship on the line to defend you. That's how much he loves you. Anyway, I just needed you to know all of that.
Victor, I like you. The past few hours have been incredible. The day we skipped school together was incredible. You... You're incredible. I swear, I never meant to get in between you and Benji. But when we're together, it feels like magic. I can't stop smiling when you're around me. Even when we're just walking next to each other not saying anything. I've never felt more connected to someone in my entire life.
Now imagine all the future things you wanna do with your boyfriend. Go to prom together. Do the long distance thing in college and fumble around awkwardly with FaceTime sex. But then you beat the odds. You actually wind up together. Who do you see? Is there one person where it would kill you if you didn't do those things with?
After Pilar confessed her feelings and kissed Felix, Felix wants to pretend nothing has happened between them. However, Pilar can't treat Felix the same way she used to, so she has to draw a line. Pilar just wants Felix to be her brother's nerdy friend and her neighbor only. On the other hands, Lake can't get over Felix even though they have broken up. Lake is single, but she is not really ready to mingle. Felix's mom has finally returned from the ward. She doesn't want to miss seeing Felix growing up, so is trying the new medication to cure her illness. She doesn't hate Lake, because Lake is the one who risked the relationship trying to fix her problem. In the wedding, Lake runs into Felix, and she still finds him cute just like before. Lake invites him to dance and somehow suggests to get back together. Felix sees it coming, but he is not quite sure about his feeling. He runs away and bumps into Victor in the same room. It is weird that what happened to them are quite similar. They run into the same situation that whether they should get back with the same partner or date another one that they feel connected. As Felix said before that hanging out with Pilar was one of his happiest moments in life, Felix knows what he wants, so he leaves the wedding and tells Pilar how he has been feeling for her.
She risked your relationship to make sure that I got the help that I needed. And I think that that makes her pretty special. Plus, that girl looks great in a crop top.
Victor's father, Armando, is facing the similar situation with Victor. He is seeing someone new when he and Isabel are on the break. After having sex with Isabel last time, Armando knows he still has feelings for her. Isabel also wants Armando back, but she tries to be cool with the fact that Armando is living with another woman now. Isabel cannot cut ties with Armando, because they still have to raise their sons and daughter together even they are apart now. Mia is probably the lucky one there who doesn't have any relationship issues with her new boyfriend, Andrew. However, she has a problem with her dad. Her dad has promised her not to move to a new city, but he lied. In the wedding, he tells Mia that he can't miss this opportunity. Mia feels betrayed, so she decides to leave home with Andrew to find her mother.
When Victor first came to Creekwood High, he was just a wide-eyed kid who was new to everything. He wasn't sure who exactly he was until meeting Simon and Benji. Simon has taught me how to be true to himself, while Benji taught me how to be gay. After coming out to his parents and friends, his life has changed forever. Some people praised Victor's courage, but some found him off-putting because of his sexual orientation. He has grown up a lot after coming out, because he knows he can't depend on Simon all the time. He might not be an expert in counseling, but some people are reaching out to him for help now. Victor can now make his decision independently without consulting Simon all the time.
Felix and Lake have been a lovely couple since they started dating. Lake has cared Felix's mom too much that she betrayed his trust. On the other hand, Felix has been treating Pilar as his sister, but he started to catch feelings for her when she kissed him. Lake's friend, Lucy seems to be attracted by her, so it is possible that they will begin dating in the next season.
Being dumped by Victor, Mia has been trying to get over him. Mia has found a boyfriend, but things are not going well with her father. Her life is pretty tragic in this season.
Isabel has also grown from a discouraging mom to a supportive mom. She loves Victor so much that she is willing to give up her belief and religion.
