Promising Young Woman - You didn't think this was the end, did you?
Cassie is a pretty woman who goes to the club frequently. It's not rare that she got drunk and got picked up by guys. However, when any guy wants to make out with her, she becomes sober again, which is kind of terrifying and scares guys away. She has a notebook with the name of the guys who tried to take advantage of her while she was passed out. Cassie also keeps a tally of that in her notebook. This really gets us wonder why it's like that and what she is planing to do secretly.
She is in her 30s already, but she still lives with her parents and works in a coffeehouse. She is single and doesn't have many friends. Her life seems pathetic, right? It's revealed she was a med school student but dropped out of it with her friend, Nina.
One day, she runs into her classmate, Ryan, while she is working in the cafe. Ryan is a doctor now, but he always liked Cassie while they were studying together. Ryan takes the initiative by asking her out, but she gives him a fake number. Therefore, he has to come to the coffeehouse and asks her out sincerely again, and she says yes this time. The first date goes quite well even if it's just a simple dinner, but Cassie seems to be keeping distance from Ryan. Ryan wants to take her to his home, but she seems not interested, so they end the night with just a meal. The other day, Cassie visit Ryan at the hospital and tells him she wants another date, so they kinda become a thing since then. While they were hanging out, Cassie learns that one of their friend, Al Monroe, is going to marry, but she doesn't appear to be happy for him. Cassie is so interested in know how Al is doing, so she tries to reconnect her old friends on social media to learn more about it and invites Madison to have a lunch together. Indeed, Cassie wants to question Madison why dismissed her when she was in trouble at school. Madison is passed out after Cassie drugs her secretly. Madison is sent to a hotel room with a man. She got panicked, but Cassie just wants to threaten her with no intention to harm her. Dean Walker, the head of the school, is Cassie's next target. Before visiting her, Cassie lures her daughter to gives her the phone. Cassie starts the interrogation but it seems that Dean Walker has completely forgotten Nina, even Nina had reached out to her after being raped. She finally admit she did wrong when she suspects that Cassie kidnapped her daughter, but it's not true. Next up, Cassie visits Jordan Green, the lawyer defended Al and threatened Nina to drop the case. He discloses that he couldn't sleep well after that and begs for her forgiveness. Cassie forgives him for his sincerity and walks away.
Even Cassie has a boyfriend now, but she still keeps going to club and act drunk. However, she is spotted by Ryan this time and now he think she has been lying to his feeling. Cassie has fallen in love with Ryan already, and she doesn't want to end the relationship like this. Nina's mum also remind her to get over with Nina's death, so she can move on and live like a normal person. Cassie knows she did something wrong, so apologizes to Ryan and they make up.
Everything seems back to normal until Madison send Cassie a footage of Nina being raped by the guys. Cassie learns that Ryan is one of the bystanders. She is so mad at him and calls him out at his workplace. Al is going to have a bachelor party soon, so Cassie forces Ryan to give her address so that she won't spread the video to the public at this moment.
Obviously, Al is Cassie's fifth and ultimate target. She dresses as a striper to join the party. She first gets everyone's drunk and goes to the bedroom with Al. By handcuffing Al, she is able to interrogate him and rage at him. This soon turns into violence. Cassie is clearly not as forceful as Al, so she ends up being murdered. This is definitely not the end of the story as Cassie had planned everything ahead. After her death, a message is sent to Cassie's parents, which is written by Cassie while she was alive. With the evidence, the police is able to find Cassie corpse and prosecuted all the men who were responsible for Cassie's and Nina's death.
It's so disgusting to see that women still got discredited even after what happened. In this male-dominated and patriarchal society, men seem to be more reliable than women, and the men's future shouldn't be at stake. Young girls can have their own promising prospects as well, so it's just so unfair to prioritize one's future just because of gender.
