Ron's Gone Wrong - I used to think that I was the lonely one
Bubble is a company for building B-bot, a personal bot for connecting the user with others in the network. It's highly personalized for the user, so everyone can have a tailor-made user experience. Barney is a socially-awkward middle school student. He doesn't have friends, so recess time is his most hated time at school. Barney is the only one at school who doesn't own a B-bot, so he feels left out all the time without being able to connect other B-bots. He always wants to have one, but his father can't afford to buy him one.
It's Barney's birthday, and his grandmother wants to throw a party for him and invites all his friends to celebrate his birthday. He hasn't invited any friends to come to his party, so he ends up celebrating with his father and grandmother only. He was hoping that his father would get him a B-bot for his birthday gift, but it isn't. His father doesn't want Barney to be disappointed, so he decides to really buy him one for the birthday. When he gets to the store, it's closed, so he can only buy a faulty one from the delivery driver.
He is so excited to have a new B-bot when he wakes up the very next day. However, the B-bot is a bit off. The B-bot, Ron, calls Barney as Absalom. When Barney takes it out, it starts to assault people, and it turns to chaos. The footage of B-bot attacking kids goes viral, so Bubble has to recall Ron. Barney sees Ron as a friend already, so he doesn't want to let it go. He swaps Ron with a fake one so that it doesn't get destroyed.
Someone tells Ron that B-bot is for making friends, so it feels like it has the responsibility for finding friends for Barney. It starts to walk around and find people with similar interest with Barney. When it brings these people to the school, thing starts to get out of control. His classmate finds out that he still keeps the faulty B-bot, and they want to have one with more functions. The backdoor programs start spreading, and the B-bots act violently in no time. A new patch comes out to remediate the accident. Barney is viewed as the one who caused everything, so he gets kicked out of school.
Barney doesn't know what to do, so he decides to go away and live in the wood with Ron. After missing for few days, Ron carries Barney out of the wood, and the video of it saving the user goes viral again. After waking up with injury, Barney finds out Ron is different than before. Marc has reset Ron and put his copy in the cloud. To bring back the original Ron, Marc and Barney work together to break into the Bubble HQ. He manages to find the copy, but he also wants to share the version of Ron with others, so he upgrades every B-bot with Ron's version at a cost of losing Ron.
Everyone has a faulty B-bot, but it makes every one of them happier. The faulty B-bot brings everyone closer.
Everyone wants to have a friend to truly understand you, but what if the perfect friend doesn't exist? B-bot is the product that really solves the problem as it is customizable. However, it turns out it's not purely for making friends. It is just another product from tech giant to harvest more data from users. In the near future, it is possible that human can make friends with robots, but robots can never replace human. The interaction between humans is something special that will bond people together. Finding friends might be hard, but if you are able to leave your comfort zone, it would be easier than you thought.
