Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - the hardest thing about this job is you can't always save everybody
Miles Morales is a high school student living in New York. His father, a policeman, has high expectations for him. He is doing well at school so his father transfers him to an elite school. He doesn’t like the new school, because he doesn’t feel like he fits in and misses his old friends. He becomes interested in a girl, because she is also new here. After school, Miles sometimes hangs out with his Uncle Aaron, because he finds so many common things between them and it’s easy for him to open up when talking with his uncle. One day, Uncle Aaron brings Miles to his secret place in the underground, where they paint graffiti together. Before they leave, Miles gets bitten by a spider.
The next day, Miles wakes up feeling different. He can overhear what others are thinking and his hands are sticky. He doesn’t want to make a big scene at school, so runs away anxiously. He goes back to the secret place trying to find out what caused his weird behavior. He can’t find any evidence but he witnesses Peter Parker attempting to disable the collider that Kingpin wants to use to resurrect his family, which would have disastrous consequences for the entire world. Peter knows he can’t make it, so he gives the bypass key to Miles hoping he will disable the collider. Peter is killed by Kingpin subsequently, and Miles has to flee. He clearly knows that with great power comes great responsibility, but he doesn’t know how to harness his new spider power. He buys a suit and attends Peter’s funeral. At the grave, he meets Peter B. Parker, a Spider-Man from another universe. He looks like Peter Parker but not exactly the same. Miles wants to learn a thing or two from Peter B. Parker, but he doesn’t bother to teach Miles. Upon knowing the bypass key is broken, they decide to visit Kingpin’s building to collect the required information. They manage to sneak in and out together, and they start to bond with each other. They are able to escape with the help of spider-woman, who is revealed to be Gwen. They know they need help, so they visit Aunt May. This is when they find Spider-Man from other dimensions, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham. As they are not from this universe, they have been experiencing glitches since they came here. Someone needs to stay behind to shut down the collider. Miles volunteers to be the one, but others doubt his ability. Miles feels down, so he reaches out to his Uncle Aaron, where he discovers his uncle is indeed Prowler, the one who tries to kill him. After a series of fights, his uncle cannot bear to kill Miles after he takes off his mask. His uncle ends up being shot by Kingpin, while Miles flees. Miles is upset about the death of his uncle. All the Spider-Men sympathize with his loss, because they have all experienced it. His dad is worried about Miles, so he gives a pep talk and apologizes outside his door. Miles finally hones his power and joins the force to fight against Kingpin.
The story teaches us that we never know when we're ready, but we just need to take a leap of faith. We also need to remember that we're not alone, and that someone else has gone through similar struggles.
