The Fallout - You went through something no one should ever have to go through
Life is hard yet unfair. Sometimes you just have to go through something unfavorable and you are not really the one to make the call.
Vada is a high school kid who lives a normal life with her parents and younger sister. She also has a best friend, Nick who often share the ride to school together. Everything was so fine until the incident. It is a normal school day where they have classes to attend. In the middle of the lesson, Vada receives a text from her sister, Amelia, saying that there's something urgent that she has to tell her. For that reason, Vada leaves the classroom and calls her to solve her problem. Before returning to the homeroom, Vada goes to the bathroom. In the bathroom, she meets Mia, one of the most popular girl in the school. Vada starts making conversation with her, because she admires her. All of a sudden, they hear shots fired outside the bathroom. They are so scared, because there're just two of them there. They don't know what to do, except hiding in the stall. Quinton comes in and he is petrified, because his brother got shot outside.
That night, Vada cannot sleep very well, because she has all these terrible nightmares all night. Mia connects Vada through social media and asks her to hang around at her house. Vada is amazed by Mia's house, because it's so much bigger than hers. Mia's parents are traveling, so she is alone at this big house. Being haunted by the shooting, Mia couldn't really sleep that night. Vada and Mia didn't witness the shooting, but the moment when they're worried about whether they would be kill was still a trauma. They have their own friends, but they don't feel like sharing what had happened with them. They went through the whole incident together, so they had a special bonding. They learn that Quinton's brother got shot, so they decide to attend his service together. After the trauma, Vada begins to hide herself. Nick wants to use his voice as victim to prevent the next high school shooting accident from happening, but Vada doesn't feel like it and withdraw herself from it. Vada's family are worried about Vada, because she doesn't talk much after the incident. Her mom also takes her to see the therapist, but it doesn't go well. Vada assures her family that she has been fine and just wants some more alone time. Vada starts spending more time with Mia as they hit it off when they first hung out.
Vada feels so empty, because she doesn't why she got to survive but not the others. Vada has returned to school once, but she is uncomfortable to be in the same bathroom again. Vada's parents want her to go back to school as soon as possible so as not to fall behind others, but they don't want to put pressure on her. Though asking her parents not to worry about her, Vada can't really get over the trauma. Since the incident, Vada has become friend with Quinton and hang out together more often. Ever since the incident, Vada tries lots of new ways to numb her pain, from drinking, taking drugs to having sex. Vada falls head over heel in love with him, but when Vada kisses him, he pulls back. With what happened recently, the shooting trauma and the fact that she's going through puberty, she has trouble organizing her life and starts to distant herself more from her family and friends.
Vada begins to open up more when she has a conversation with her sister since long time ago. Amelia admits she feels bad for making the phone call that day, because if she didn't, Vada would have been in a safer place. Indeed, Vada didn't blame her or mad at her, because things just happened. Though they haven't been talked seriously for a while, Vada still loves her sister as always. After neglecting her family and friends for some time, Vada reconcile with them one by one, except Nick.
