The Princess Bride - Death cannot stop true love All it can do is delay it for a while

Westley is just a farm boy, but he is in love with Princess Buttercup. They are madly in love, but Westley knows they cannot marry together if he has no significant achievements. Therefore, he sets off to find his fortune and promises will return to her. Later, Buttercup receives the news that his ship was wrecked while sailing, so she believes that he is dead. Few years later, she is forced to marry Prince Humperdinck. She has told the prince clearly that she is not in love with him, and her true love will always be Westler. Few days before the marriage, Buttercup is kidnapped by 3 bandits, Vizzini, Fezzik and Inigo. Vizzini is the leader of them. Fezzik is the one with great strength, even he does not exercise much. Inigo is trained to be a best dueler and he just wants to get back at the one who murdered his dad. While they are kidnapping Buttercup, someone in mask keeps pursuing them behind. Inigo challenges him for a fight, but he is not as good as him. Fezzik wants to fight with him with bare hand, but he fails either. Vizzini plays a game with him, but he gets tricked by the man as well. The one in mask gets Buttercup and take her away. Buttercup thought he was Dread Pirate Roberts, the one who killed her beloved one, so she pushes him down the hill. To her surprise, he is not the killer but her beloved one, Westley. They managed to get past the deadly swamp, but they cannot escape when surrounded by Humperdinck's army. Buttercup promise to the prince that she will marry him unless he is willing to send Westley back. Back in the palace, Buttercup thought Westler is safe now, and she is upset by the fact that Wester does not come and save her. Indeed, Westler is captured by the princess and being tortured. Inigo happens to know that the one who killed his father is now in the castle, but he cannot past through the gate guarded by the army. He needs Westler's intelligence to help him bypass, so he tracks Westler down and takes him out. Westler is dead already after the torture, but he revives from the cure by Miracle Max.

Nothing can stop true love. Westler has never broken his promises to Buttercup because of their true love. True love makes him endure all the tortures and even makes him revives from death. With true love, there is almost nothing you cannot do. Being with someone you love or wanting to see the beloved one makes you have power to break through all the troubles along the way.

Though this is a romantic comedy, it is not like any other rom com. It has become a cult classic because of the story and some of the cringy scenes. There are also a few quotable moments that makes this old movie ages well. It is still a classic and timeless romantic comedy today.
