Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist S02E03 - I'm okay with anything that makes you happy

In the last episode, Zoey's mum, Maggie, has a hard time of getting over the passing of Mitch. In this episode, it is Zoey's turn to have issues with the passing. Zoey keeps having nightmares of her singing alone at an empty house at night, which makes her cannot sleep well. Without sleep, she wakes up sluggish all the time and cannot focus on what she is doing. After taking over the fourth floor, she feels like she is taking on too much stuff. Since she cannot wrap her head around too much stuff at a time, she listens to Simon's advice to let her subordinates to handle some of them. Delegation does not make Zoey feel more relieved but makes her even more frustrated. The things her subordinates did cannot live up to her expectation, so she still has to step in to resolve the conflicts. Her sources of pressure do not only come from working, but also from her new boyfriend, Max. After having that special moment with Max, she is supposed to feel closer to Max. However, she still doesn't feel comfortable to open up to Max about her nightmares and all the stress she has been having. Max and Mo are starting a new business, but they cannot settle for most of the things, so they have arguments sometimes. Since Zoey is one of Mo's best friends, Max would Zoey to talk with Mo about it, but Zoey is not aware of what he is trying to say. Max finds it frustrating when Zoey is not listening to what he says most of the time. He suggests living together at her own house, so that they can have more private time and she might have her nightmares gone for good. Originally, She thought that moving back to her own house and live with Max can make her feel better, but she still has that terrible nightmare over and over again. Max tries to help her, but Zoey just doesn't know what to talk to him. She feels like her life is such a mess now that she has no idea how to deal with it. She cannot even communicate with Max well, so she thinks it might be high time to take a pause from their relationship.

Bereavement is an unavoidable experience after the passing of someone, and different people react differently to grief. Some may keep crying, and some may find something to distract themselves or even numb the pain. Working is probably one of the greatest distraction as it can keep one busy and forget you were thinking about. However, Zoey put too much pressure on herself after the promotion. Obviously, she hasn't got over her father's death. She only forced herself to move on even when she's not quite ready yet. Therefore, she ends up with a nervous breakdown thinking that she is a failure and doesn't how to fix her life anymore.

Well... I mean... Do you think we rushed into this? I mean maybe... Maybe I pushed you when deep down, I knew it was probably too soon after your dad. Maybe I just wanted to be with you so badly that... I was willing to go for it.
